Artist Statement

My work has always been about people. I have a love for the human form, but I have always wanted to tell stories, about my personal world, and the larger world we live in.

I think of my work as “figurative humanism.” When I draw or sculpt individuals, I try to capture more than a likeness. I want to depict the gesture of their movement and the essence of their spirit.

Some twenty years ago, my wife and I purchased a small sheep farm. Our sheep and llama also became my subject matter, as well as cows, horses, dogs, cats, and even turtles.
